ResponderEliminarWhen I was born, my parents were thinking about calling me Rebeca or Raquel, because they didn´t want to call me Maria Encarna, Maria Luisa, Maria Elena… So they finally decided to call me Raquel, and I am very happy to have this name, because I don´t like the name Rebeca, I don´t know why… It doesn´t sound nice to me.
On the other hand, I was really interested in looking for the origen of my name, so I discovered that is a Hebrew name, a symbol of innocence and gentleness. In literature it was something of a favourite name in the nineteeth century, and was borne by characters, as well as figuring in the poetry of the period. How exciting! I had no idea about there was a story behind my name!
In conclusion, now, thanks for this activity, I know the History of my name. It has been really interesting for me. I recommend you looking for the origen of your name!

ResponderEliminarI'm going to explain you why my parents decided to call me Antonio, a great name, of course.
First of all, my mother's father and my father's father were both called Antonio, ( a great name,I repeat), and secondly, my parents thought that calling me Antonio would be a tribute to them.
Before doing this activity I just knew that fact , but I didn't know how my parents had called me in the case that they had chosen another name.
My mum had thought about calling her first son Alejandro, but when she met my father, she decided to change her opinion. Now I'm very grateful for her decision.
My name comes from Latin and many important people had this name in the Roman Empire. ( I have told you before that it's a great name).
See you soon,

ResponderEliminarI haven't always liked my name, but now I think it's beautiful and looks cool. My name hasn't got any saint, (I think, I am not really sure) but it's okay. When I was a child, that used to bother me, because my brother's name had got a saint and I wanted one for my name too (children's nonsenses) , but now, I can see that that wasn`t so important. But my mother didn't choose my name because of that, she used to joke about me beeing an evil, because she knew that I was jealous of my brother.
ResponderEliminarMy mum found this name between the pages of a wonderful book by the chilean writer Isabel Allende, "The house of the spirits". She liked the name of the one of the characters and she decided that if she had a daughter, her name will be Alba. And that is the origin of my name. My dad didn't want to think and my grandma wanted to call me "Dominica", so... finally my name was perfectly decided: Alba.
I am proud of it... and very relieve! Imagine... Dominica... an horror, of course.
My name comes from Latin, and it means dawn, the word to express the end of the darkness and the beginning of the light. It has more meanings like pure, white... In Latin it is an adjetive.
My mum usually says that this name was making for me, that it was my destiny, because when I was born, my skin looked totally pale, without colour, and then, I began to cry, and it turned completely red. Now, I have to bear the jokes of my friends about my skin. They love calling me "viking" or "german intruder" although I am totally spanish in a sunny and hot country. It's cruel, I think. Before, pale skin meant wealth!
I loved this activity! I enjoyed a lot talking with my mother about all of our memories and we finished sitting on the sofa with a photo album on our legs.

ResponderEliminarI don't like my name complete. My name is Ana María, but I don't like "María" because it is a compound nouns, and when I was young the people called me "Ana Mari" or other similar things, and it is old name. I detested this.
I like "Ana" because is a short name. Ana comes from Hebrew, means charitable, compassionate, full of grace.
My parents chose this name because my mother's grandmother was called Ana, and she thought it was a pretty name. But my father thought it was missing something, so he decided to call Ana María.

When I was little I was angry because people said I had cookie name ,I don’t like it when people call me Mari because I think it is an older name
This activity also liked because I discovered because I put Maria
Hi!
ResponderEliminarThe story of my name is simple. A few days that I was born my mother was thinking about which name put me.
My mother and my father thought of three names: Alejandra, Paula and Laura, but finally decided to call me Laura, obviously. If I were a guy, probably, my name would be David, because one of the brothers of my mother was called David and died young.
I have discovered the meaning of my name: Laura is a girls name of Latin origin meaning the bay, or laurel plant. In ancient times, a crown was made from the leaves of the laurel for heroes or victors as a symbol of honour and victory. The poet Petrarch addressed his sonnets to a Laura.
It's great! I liked this activity because I have researched about my name and I have talked with my parents to know the why.
See you on Monday! Bye!

ResponderEliminarBefore I was born my parents thought many names as Cristina, Natalia, Ana... but they didn't like its much. On the 31st of August, a few hours before I was born, at 4:00 am to be exactly, my father saw in the news that Princess Diana (Lady di) had died in a car accident. It was a great coincidence because it was the same day a few hours before I was born. My father told to my mother and she thoughts that I could get that name, but my brother didn't like that name and thought another. He thought the name of Beatriz, which they liked so much. It comes from Latín and means happiness. I really like my name, I was lucky!
I liked this activity because now, I know the story of my name.

ResponderEliminarHi Irene!
ResponderEliminarMy name is María, and my parents called me like this because they loved this name. They really like it! I know this because my sister’s second name is María too. My godfather wanted to call me Andrea but, luckily, they didn’t call me Andrea. I don’t like this name, I don’t know why. I have always thought that my parents called me María because one of my grandmother’s names is María (my grandmother’s name is María Magdalena Enriqueta. It’s too much long!), but, thanks to this activity, now I know that this wasn’t the reason which my name is María. I am very happy that my parents didn’t call me with three names, I think this has to be horrible!
Besides, thanks to this activity I have guessed where my name comes from. It comes from Hebrew culture but some people think that it comes from other cultures like Latin or Greek. It was the name of Jesus’ mother and it is known all over the world. In English, there are three versions of my name: Maria, Mary or Mariah. Another curious thing is that Miriam is my name too. It is strange, because Maria and Miriam are the same name! Nevertheless, I think people don’t know this, they think these names are completely different.
Furthermore, my name has many meanings like “the chosen”, “the beloved of God”, “the Illuminating”, “the lady”, “the princess” or “the beautiful”. My name is very popular and there are millions of people who are named Maria.
As well, another great thing of my name is that I have six saints! However, for me, it doesn’t matter because I have never celebrated my saint’s day. My real saint day is 1th January but I never remember it.
In conclusion, although my name is very common, I like it a lot because anyone called María is like me. We are all unique and one of the reasons is because each one has a different story behind his/her name. This activity has been very interesting; everybody should look for the reason of his name and his origin.
Bye!
