FRIDAY APRIL 24TH. EBAU REVISION. PASSIVE AND CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

 Let's practise for the grammar part of the EBAU test. Today we'll focus on passive sentences (passive, active, causative, impersonal) and conditionals.

A. 1) Put into the passive:
1. People often make fun of bosses in passwords.

2. Elisabeth Manzon has directed food projects at the government agency for a long time now.

3. Liquorice Locks cage off (poner en jaulas) single pieces of candy to prevent them from use.

4. The college admissions offices at universities are getting more requests from students who have previously enjoyed a gap year.

5. You may ease (aliviar, minimizar) the conflict by saying something light and unexpected.

6. Netflix has offered cheap subscriptions.

7. Our Security Department has urged citizens to report anything dangerous they witness.

B) Put into the active:
1. Seabirds are believed to steer mostly by the sun and the stars.
2. Students will be organised in groups by the teacher. 
3. Were you told the news by your classmates?
4. Films with female leads have tradicionally been believed to be less successful. 
5. He had his suit made for his wedding by a famous designer. 

C) Change to the causative form: 
1.-We need to hire someone to paint our house. 
2.-A company is delivering fresh bread to me at the moment.
3.-He really needed a haircur. 
4.-A Spanish factory is going to manufacture 10000 masks for health workers. 
5.-Someone has just brought our shopping. 





D) Complete - CONDITIONALS:
1. You should change your password if you ...................... (consider) someone may know it.
2. If my dog had gone missing, I ..................................... (feel) miserable.
3. If I ................ (have) five lives, I ́d try to do my best every single time.
4. The dropout rate amongst US freshmen (US -school: 1st-year student) wouldn’t be so high if more grants ........................ (be) given to them.
5. If waves of laughter (risa) had been sweeping the land, waves of violence .......................... (decrease).
6. If I ....................... (have) Netflix, I could become a TV binger during this lockdown. ( = a person who watches one episode after another on the web)

E) Change to a different type of conditional. 
1.-Fewer people would die if we had a vaccine. (change to third conditional)
2.-If you focus on your online lessons, your marks will be higher. 
(change to second conditional)
3.-They won't release her from hospital if she isn't better (change to second and third conditional)

This week we are going to try to connect the whole 2E group to the online lesson. If we have problems, we will split the group again.

THURSDAY, APRIL 16TH. UNIT 6. BINOMIAL EXPRESSIONS

Today we are going to concentrate on vocabulary. Binomial expressions are pair of words connected by a conjunction, and/or. It is important to learn that the two words are always used in the same order. We also have binomial expressions in Spanish: poco a poco, pros y contras, antes o después.

Then go to your book, page 86 amd do exercises 1, 2 and 3.
